X'mas is over and school is back soon. Next year, Ryan will be at his new school and we need to go for orientation next week to buy books, uniform, etc.
Next week will be a busy week for me...have to wake up early and back to my normal routine again.
Today I have the mood to cook my own version of "nasi ayam". Since I don't have chicken rice paste to cook the rice, I dished up my own version for the rice. I added some ginger(smashed) and fried garlic and seasoning to the rice, it tasted not bad.
As for the chicken, I boiled it for 20 mins, then soak in ice cold water, then boiled again for another 10 mins. Pour some sesame oil over the chicken...that is what we have for dinner tonight.
Ryan has been asking me when is x'mas day....and he really hope to receive a gift from Mr.Santa. To make him happy, I asked him to put a x'mas sock in the living room and left it overnight. And the next day....he saw his favo toy next to his sock...A Happy smile burst our from his face. He is so happy...and we get it fix soon in our bedroom.

Our dinner for Tonight
After coming back from Medan, I start my daily routines..doing housechores, cooking, etc...I really miss my sweet moments in Medan (no housechores & cooking at all .....everyday just relax,eat...relax, eat).
Tonight, I dished up a simple meal for 3 of us. I bought some ready pastes (curry paste, sate padang paste, satay paste) from the wet market in Medan and I cooked " satay pork " for our dinner.
I also dished up "chap chai" and seaweed soup for Ryan.
Since it is a rainy day, we just stay at home after dinner. That 's how we spent our Saturday night.....

Our best time in Medan
Last month, we went back to Medan for almost a month (from 11Nov-9Dec 2012). Ryan was so happy and the first thing strike his mind after we reached Medan was going to TimeZone at Sun Plaza to play arcade games. I believe most kids like to play game in arcade and Ryan was hooked to car racing game. However, I restricted him only to play less than 3x per visit ... or else, I will have to spent lot of $$ on his arcade game.
Our usual hang out places in Medan are either Sun Plaza or Cambridge. For me, I prefer to go Sun Plaza, at least more shops around and have more things to see and eat. As for Cambridge, normally I will only go there for the Haagen - Dazs ice cream , have my family dinner at the Grand Duck King Restaurant or let Ryan play at the Chimmon (of course, Ryan will play with his car racing game again...).

My All-Time Favourite Noodle
Since I was young, I love to eat Indomie Instant Noodle.I should say...during my primary school time, everytime after school....I sure will ask for a bowl of Instant Noodle from my mom ..it lasted for few years till one day, I feel "bored" of it, I stopped eating instant noodle for a few years then.
But now, .... everytime when I feel hungry and nothing else to eat.....instant noodle will come to rescue me.
Indomie has been one of my favourite instant noodle, last time they don't have much variety, but nowadays, this company has made so many varieties of instant noodle in the market.
On my recent trip back to Medan, I spotted this " Fried Curly Noodle with corned beef" while doing my grocery shopping at local supermarket. Grab a few packs and gave it a try the next day.

Hubby's birthday
*I supposed to make this post yesterday, but due to the internet line was done..I have to postpone till tonight*
Yesterday was a special day....12-12-12 and it was my hubby's birthday. I bought him a birthday cake and cooked some simple dishes for our dinner. As part of traditional practice, chicken soup meesuah is a must for celebrating birthday.
Ryan was the "happiest boy" when I told him we were getting a birthday cake for daddy. Ryan loved to eat cakes.
After dinner, Ryan waited anxiously for the birthday cake to come...since we were still quite full, I decided to have the cake cutting session around 8.30pm.
Ryan and I sang a birthday song together followed by photo taking session....A very simple celebration!!
Dear ..."HAPPY BIRTHDAY"

From my kitchen...."Steamed Cream Cracker Cake"
Steamed Cream Cracker Cake has always been my family favourite cake, it is best to served as breakfast or tea break. Let's me share with you this simple recipe....
Ingredients:
1.Sliced some carrots ,1 big onion, 1 can of luncheon meat and some leeks into small pieces.
2.Seasoning : pepper,Maggi Cukup Rasa
3.1 pack of cream cracker biscuit (I used Tiger Brand - the best is to use Jacob brand).
4.1 tin of Evaporated milk(any brand will do).
5.8-10 eggs (depend on the size of the egg).
Method:
1.Grease the baking tray(square size) with some butter ( that is to prevent the cake stick to the tray - easier to wash the tray).
I need 9 pcs of cream cracker biscuit per layer. You can use smaller size of baking tray, but must be in Square Size.
2.Stir fried the carrots, leeks, big onions + luncheon meat.Add the seasoning too. Then put aside.
3.Beat the eggs, add in Evaporated Milk and mixed them well.
4.Soak the cream cracker biscuits into the step (3).
5.Layer the cream cracker biscuits into the baking tray (3x3).
6.Put in the mixed carrot+leek+luncheon meat+onion (from step-2)in the next layer.
7.Repeat till all the ingredients are used up.It will looks like a layer cake.
8.Steam high heat for about half an hour/till cooked. Served with Maggi Sos Tomat or Maggi Sos Chili.
My family love all the dishes I cook using Maggi products. For stir-frying/marinade, I love to use Maggi Sos Tiram to make the dishes taste great.....MAGGI is always the best companion in my cooking.
I am submitting this post for Maggi "Good to Treat" contest. If you are interested to join, please click this link for more details.

Our first "Time"
Time flies very fast and Ryan is reaching 6 years old in 2 months time. This morning, while looking back at my pictures album, I found this "special picture". It was my first time celebrating my birthday with Ryan.
I remembered well when I reached my sweet seventeen, I had a birthday celebration together with my best friend at the restaurant. That was the only time I have a party on my birthday. During my childhood, my mom would cook a bowl of meesuah for me on my birthday, just a simple celebration.
And now, I wish to celebrate my birthday with hubby & Ryan every year....a simple dinner with a birthday cake.
Trying my luck ......I am submitting this post for MummyMoon kleenex contest.

Attending a Birthday Party
Yesterday we attended Ryan's uncle 1st birthday party. It was a big gathering .. all hubby's relatives were invited to this party. Too bad I have no chance to snap the food as everyone were so hungry and could not wait to wallop the food when the catering reached the place. I would say...the food were great especially the curry chicken. As for Ryan, he could not wait to eat the birthday cake.....after having his lunch, he quickly ask for the cake.
Overall, we have a full and delicious lunch yesterday and everyone were so happy to see each other again.

Yeah.....I am free now
Yesterday was Ryan's last day exam, he is "free" from now on as his school holiday is coming ahead. 6th Nov will be his last day school(also the day he will get his report book) .It is marks as his last day at "THAT SCHOOL". His current school has made some changes for next year batch whereby all students for pre-K, K1 and K2 are compulsory to attend the afternoon class session from 2-4.30pm apart from morning class session. Since we do not want Ryan gets so tiring, we decided to change school for him. I have enrolled him to another school and a few of his classmates are following us too.
Lastnight we were so free that I decided to let Ryan do colouring and he chose to colour a fish. I guided him on how to mix the colour and he wanted to add 2 small fishes on the picture. I decide to enroll Ryan to an art class next year as I want him to continue his interest in colouring.
This is what Ryan did last night......

Our First Picture
While sorting out my picture files tonight, I looked back at those old pictures of Ryan. I found this "special" picture of me and Ryan. It was our first picture taken on the first day of Chinese New Year 2007. At that point of time, Ryan was just a few days old and of course, I was on my confinement period. Being a first time mom, I was pretty nervous in handling a newborn baby. I was glad that my kind MIL was at my side giving me guidance. Time flies so fast... Ryan is going to be 6 years old soon. I know Ryan is a toddler now ,but in my eyes, he is still a little boy which I wish to hug him always in my arm.
Mommy always Love You, Ryan !!! **-**
FYI, I am sending out this post to join Cynful Pleasure Giveaway. Check this link for more information if you wanna join this giveaway....All the best !!

Definitely worth to win....
I believe all boys like to play around with cars and it goes same to Ryan. He can bring his car toys to anywhere he goes,.... to the kitchen, bathroom, and even when he sleeps, his hand is still holding on to his favourite cars.
I noticed Ryan has his own creative way playing with his car toys. He like to make his playground more fun by creating special car tracks for his cars, adding building, making tunnels,etc....sometimes he wil even take out his Thomas & friends train set and set them up together with his car tracks.
And last weekend.........I noticed a silent mode in the living room, I took a peep and noticed that Ryan was busy creating his car tracks by using some unused tape roller, books and empty paper boxes. He was busy cutting the paper boxes to make his car track looks great and his car can move smoothly on the tracks....I did offer a little help in connecting the tape roller... ****** And here it goes, the car tracks is ready to make a performance ...****_****
Ryan grabbed his forever favourite Hot Wheels car and played around his car tracks again and again. He was so happy when he managed in completing his own car tracks with little help from mom/dad. I myself enjoying spending my precious moments with him playing around with his cars.It definitely make our relationship getting stronger and stronger.
The other day while doing blog-hopping, I came across a HOT WHEEL giveaway contest held by a Mom Blogger "Anggie's Journal". I was getting excited with the cool prize "a set of Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Mid Air Madness Booster Set ".
Ryan has been craze over these "Hot Wheel" stuffs since he was 3 years old. For sure, he will jumping up high if I can win this great prize for him.The other day when he saw this HW picture online,he kept telling me that he liked this"HW Tracks Mid Air Madness Booster Set" so much. Okie.....,so I make a deal with Ryan... if he can get to the top 10 in his class on this coming final year exam, he will be getting a surprise gift from mommy. I bet you guys know what is the "Surprise Gift" I am getting for Ryan. For me,this deal is a kinda of encouragement for Ryan to study hard for his coming exam....hope not a pressure for him.
For those who are interested to win this great prize for your boys & girls, let's make a quick drop here the contest details before it ends on 31st October 2012.

Home cooked meal : Gulai Ayam
Last weekend I cooked one of Indonesia traditional dish called "Gulai Ayam",it is one of my favourite dish.....The paste was brought to me by my mom all the way from Medan when she came to visit me in September. I always have different type of premix paste(curry, rendang, mee rebus, etc) in my freezer(all brought from Medan).
Some info about this dish "gulai ayam" :
Gulai Ayam (Minangkabau and Indonesian for: "Gulai Chicken") is a traditional Indonesian Dish of chicken cooked in curry-like spicy, rich and succulent yellowish sauce called gulai. It is originally from West Sumatra (Padang). It can be classified as an Indonesian curry. Together with gulai kambing, (goat or mutton gulai), it was the most common and popular variant of gulai.
After busying in kitchen for an hour.....the Gulai Ayam dish is ready to be served, it is best to go with steam rice, bread, mini ketupat, and kompia.
......What is the next dish I should cook......?......

Surprise Prize from ..........Dumex
Last week, I received a notice from one of the courier service company when I reached home around noontime, then I phoned them to re-sent the item to my shop the next day.
I was thinking,.....what is the thing I am going to receive (it is under my husband's name). As I did not expecting any gift or prize from any where at that point of time.
Never mind...just wait and see.....
So the next morning, the courier man sent the item to my shop and I was asked to sign a piece of delivery note (the item written in the note: Samsung Galaxy Tab)....while signing on that piece of note, I was thinking.......who sent this "thing" to my husband.
Later on, I asked my husband whether he ordered Galaxy Tab online, he said "NO"....both of us were in puzzled,we opened up the parcel and I found delivery note written the company name (stationed in KL). So I quickly called up the company and asked them to help me check this item was actually sent by who. After the phone conversation, I read through the delivery note again and I found under the "description",it was stated : danone-std.
Danone....it sound familiar and my husband suggested to find any information online on this company. At last, I get some tips that Dumex is under Danone.
I remembered few months back I did joined Dumex Dugro Hari Raya contest, I submitted one entry for fun ( I got the barcode for the dumex milk formula from Ryan's classmate as he drank this milk formula ).....so I started to write a story according to the "tema" of that contest.
I went to my facebook and check on the winner list for Dumex contest........out of surprise, I saw my husband's name was THERE (under second prize winner).
Both me and my husband were so HaPPy....It is always my dream to own either Ipad or GalaxyTab and now I have it in hand without me spending a single cents.......Thanks lot Dumex for selecting my story as one of the winner.
It will be a perfect thing for my coming holiday trip ...we can play games or surf nets while waiting for our connecting flight back to my hometown.......can't wait for the coming school holiday.........:)

SomeThing Good for Us...
This week, I received a few prizes from contest that I joined via Facebook....Although not a big prizes (how I wish can strike "big prizes" one day),but I feel happy receiving all the prizes.
1. Maggi Mi Goreng sample
Being the first 3000 consumers registering for free samples of Maggi Mi Goreng , I received a very nice pack of sample....Love the new Maggi Mi Goreng, I like the new taste...but unfortunately, I found the noodle portion is bit small. I think 1 pack is not enough for me if I am in hungry mood.....oh, big eater ya...***-***
2. POISE liners
I can't remember when I joined this contest, but one thing I can remember, I am using my MIL to join as I don't have a valid Msian IC no,..no choice, I have to use my MIL name & IC no to join this POISE contest and fortunately, I won the prize.....can save my $$ for this month, no need to buy any panty liners for a month.
3. Pirates Boat
Actually I joined this Disney Junior Asia contest quite some times back and I have been waiting for more than a month....never received the prize. After sending them an email, at last I received my prize. The actual prize is not a pirate boat, just some small items. So the other day, when I opened up the parcel sent directly to me from Singapore, I was surprised that Disney Junior Asia changed the prize for me and given me a better prize. Ryan was super happy .... at last have a new toy for him to play with...

Ryan's artpiece
Ryan has attended colouring class for more than half a year, and I can see an improvement in his colouring skill. At least now he can mix the colour better than last time.
Every saturday morning, Ryan will attend the class for 2 hours at his school, he has to complete 1 drawing per session.
And this is the latest drawing that Ryan coloured at school (before the Merdeka Day)....

On their visit, I managed to make my first mooncake to let my mom & sis try. For the filling, my kind MIL help me to cook the pandan paste,so I just need to prepare the skin for the mooncake (crystal skin). I would say the outcome is not bad....the skin is just nice, not too soft and not too hard.
As for my mom & sis, they were getting excited to try this crystal skin mooncake on their own when they are back to Medan, they have brought all the ingredients needed for this mooncake.

Simple Lunch : Meesuah Soup
Everynight before going to bed, I will think of what to cook for the next day. I guess it is the life being a "SAHM".
The other day, I saw a pack of Mee Suah in my cabinet, so I decided to cook simple lunch for Ryan after his school : MeeSuah soup. Ryan loves to eat those vegetable balls (bought from GIANT),so I added some and lots of green vegetables. One thing weird, Ryan dislike other kind of fishballs, except "that particular vegetable balls" from GIANT. Strange, rite?
Get ready all the ingredients and within 20 mins....the Meesuah Soup is ready to be served...

What Day is Today?
27 Aug........Today is my birthday. Actually I totally forget that today is my birthday until last night my MIL reminded me. After the car accident, I was not in mood to celebrate my birthday...so I totally forget about "Today".
Thanks lot to my kind MIL, she cooked a big pot of chicken soup, eat with Meesuah and boiled some eggs for celebrating my birthday. Even she was working (confinement job) now, she woke up early to prepare this delicious meal for me.
Tonight we will just have simple meal for my birthday with my family.
*Happy Birthday to Me*......

Something Bad happened ...:(
If you noticed, I have not been blogging for more than a week, not in the mood as something bad has happened.
The incident happened last Saturday (11Aug), it was a very bad experiences for me and hubby, first time experienced with "G***ster". our bad luck..:(
While we were on the way to MIL's house that day, the traffic was jammed. Since the traffic light was red, we stopped our car and out of sudden I heard a car braked so hard and stopped very close to my car. After a few second, I could feel the "G" bang my car. Then he walked down from his car and hit my car's mirror asking us to drive our car to another side, but it was jammed and no more empty space to move our car. Feeling unhappy, he went to take "kayu" from his car and hit my car's mirror. I believed he was even drunk or took drug at that point of time.
The "G"'s dad agreed to pay for the repair's cost and till now we are still in the midst of processing all documentations for insurance claim. Such a bad day for us !!
This year was a bad year for us....it was the 3 third time bad things happened to our car.

What is it.....? Vegetable?
I like to eat this "vegetable"....it is a type of labu, i guess. My MIL tanam this at her backyard and it is the harvesting time. I will cook this "vege" at least twice a week.
Normally, I will just stir-fried with either prawns or sliced garlics. The other day, I added Maggi noodle into this "vege"(of course, I never put in instant noodle seasoning)...and it turned out Good.
I cooked it for lunch and Ryan love it so much. He managed to finish a big plate of the noodle.
Any comment what else I can cook with this "vege" ?...Share with me your recipe..

Last Sunday, after been to Hoover Memorial Park and Jubilee Park,I was in the mood to bake a cake......I bought a pack of sponge cake mix the other day during my grocery shopping. Actually I added some red cherries on top of the cake, but most of them sink to the bottom of the cake....why....? Can anyOne give me some advices on it?

Off to Bukit Aup Jubilee Park
Continue from my previous post, after been to Hoover Memorial Garden, we set off to Bukit Aup Jubilee Park. Ryan requested to feed fishes ... since the rain has stopped and not far away from Hoover Memorial Garden, hubby drove up to Bukit Aup Jubilee Park.
I bought fish food rm2 for Ryan to feed the fishes (mostly small fishes left) and hubby suggested we climbed up to the top hill since Ryan never been there before.
It was my third time climbed up to the hill and it was pretty tiring (coz I long time never exercise).
We can see some nice views of Sibu while we were on the top hill.....took few pictures, then we walked down the hills.
What happened the next day...both me and hubby having leg pains...till now we still facing the pains(due to long time never do exercise).
The best part, we enjoyed our Sunday outing alot and looking forward to this outing again on coming weekend..

Off to Rev James M Hoover Memorial Garden
Last weekend, we have our family outing...we brought Ryan to Hoover Memorial Garden for cycling for the very first time. Since last week, Ryan requested to cycling on the road (outside the house),but I rejected his request because it was dangerous. Instead, hubby came out this good idea.
The weather is just nice..windy and no sun. It was our first time been to Hoover Memorial Garden.Ryan was getting excited and could not wait to go cycling. Normally, Ryan only cycling inside the house. But this time, he was cycling in the garden and the road was not that smooth type, he was bit nervous at first...but after a while, he get used to it and he cycled happily around the garden. Too bad, the sky getting dark soon and started to rain,...Ryan was disappointed..I promised to bring him there again during weekend if the weather is permitted.

Colouring competition at school
Last month, Ryan 's school was having colouring competition for all the students (playgroups,pre-K,K1 and K2). I was told by the class teacher to bring our own colouring crayons....After been waiting for a month, at last the result was out from the oven.
Since I don't read Mandarin words, anything in the notice boards(written in Mandarin words only) won't caught my attention. Until the other day, Ryan's classmates mom told me that Ryan 's name was in the winner list on the notice board. ... Yes, Ryan won a prize.
Guess...which one is Ryan's chinese name? Hint : his class name started with "Hua(flower)".

I don't know ITs name...
Last weekend (Sunday) was a day for me to rest...meaning I no need to wake up so early. Don't ask me what time I woke up.....(malu to say out).
While cleaning my car porch, I saw this beautiful flowers blossomed. This flower was given by my MIL when I moved to my new house, a year ago.
My MIL bought the seed (look like big onion) from Brastagi wet market, a resort place in Medan during her first time visit to Medan.
Frankly speaking, I am not keen in gardening...so what I am doing everyday is watering this plant and plucking away those dead leaves.
.....too bad these flowers can only last less than a week..don't when it will blossom again.
I don't even know the name of this flower...Who can help me?
