All these pictures were taken during our Dec'08 trip to Singapore. Plan to go Singapore again when the Universal Studio theme park is ready .Universal Studio Singapore is expected to be completed and open by early 2010.
This is our 1st time been to Singapore Flyer. We choose to go there during night time as we believed the night view is THE BEST. Singapore Flyer offers a breathtaking panorama of the shimmering Marina Bay waterfront and historical landmarks dotting the city skyline. The whole trip took about 45 mins, we can feel bit shaking when it turn to the top,we can see the Singapore night view so well and that is amazing. Never miss it out this place for all of you who is going to Singapore for holiday.
--------------------- 9 great reasons to visit Singapore's most iconic attraction – Singapore Flyer. It’s the world’s largest observation wheel.
Standing at stunning 165m, the Flyer is the height of a 42-storey building – that’s some 30 metres taller than the famed London Eye. Taking a flight on this S$240 million dollar wheel is a one-of-a-kind experience you wouldn’t want to miss. It’s the only place to see Singapore’s magnificent cityscape.
As the wheel turns, you’ll be treated to a visual 360° feast of iconic and historical landmarks and views from the Marina Bay to the Singapore River, Raffles Place, Merlion Park, Empress Place and the Padang. There is no other place in Singapore that offers these breathtaking, panoramic views. You’ll get to feast on famous local dishes.
Seafood Paradise @ Flyer, a popular restaurant among locals, serves up signature local dishes such as chilli crab, butter crab, cereal prawns and drunken prawns. Enjoy these authentic local dishes alongside innovative culinary creations by our local chefs. You’ll get a taste of our gourmet capital.
If local food isn’t the fare for you, dine at any of the restaurants at the Flyer. The selection – from Indian fusion to Japanese delicacies and Italian epicurean – gives you a taste of why Singapore is the gourmet capital of Asia. You’ll get to indulge in Singapore’s national pastime.
Food may be our nation’s passion, but it’s shopping that’s our national pastime. At the Flyer, you’ll be able to indulge a little in yourself. Jewellery, luxury watches, exquisitely handmade Japanese accessories and more await the avid shopper. You’ll experience urban nature.
Right in the centre of the atrium is a lush, tropical rainforest. The cascading water displays, streams, rocky outcrops and pond fuse together naturally to offer a picturesque landscape for photo taking. You’ll be able to fly – “for real”.
If being 165m above ground level in a capsule exhilarates you, fly like a real pilot in a flight simulator that has all the gadgets and gizmos found in real commercial airliners. The simulator isn't a toy, it's been approved by the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority for pilot training. Your toes will be tickled by fishes.
On Level 2 is a fish foot spa - that’s right – it’s a spa where Doctor Fishes (“Garra Rufa”) work their magic on your feet. These fish, imported from Turkey, have healing properties and will give you a pedicure you won’t forget. Your kids will have splashing wet fun.
Rest in the shade of the Greek Theatre located next to Singapore Flyer while your children frolic about our interactive water fountain. They'll have a blast with dancing water jets, shooting water cannons and water sprays at our cheery and colourful aqua playground. ----------------------------
We went to Sentosa Island on 8 Dec'08 after having our dinner. We reached there around 8pm n it was raining....bad day, we have to take umbrella all the way,so troublesome. Most of the places are close too. We only managed to catch a show called : Songs of the Sea.
The show were amazing ... we enjoyed alot & snapped alot of pictures. Although we have to hold on to umbrella during the whole show, it was such an interesting show & our eyes just stick to the show, hand also did not feel tired holding the umbrella. Ryan was getting excited looking at the show esp when spotlight flashed out fishes, etc.
After the show, we walked to Merlion. It was closed,so we only managed to snap some pictures outside the Merlion.
Then we headed back to Orchard Road to snap some x'mas decoration, before back to hotel for a rest.
Sorry for updating it late, just feel lazy doing it after wholeday taking care of Ryan ...it was about X'mas decoration along Orchard Road in Dec'08. What I can say is yearr'08 xmas deco is not that nice compared to yr 2007. Year 2008 theme is about candies/sweets....whole Orchard Road full of candies decoration. After we been to Sentosa on 8Dec'08, we faster rushed to Orchard Road to snap some nite views before back to hotel for a rest. Lucky when we reached Orchard, the rain has stopped,so we faster grab our cameras n snapped some pictures.
Backdated Post : 9 Dec'08 We went to Merlion on 9 Dec'08 morning before Wanchin's family headed back to KL ....after having our breakfast, we straight forward went there by a cab. That was the 3rd day we have been walking around Singapore...so can imagine how tired were our feet, but we still full of energy to explore the unique of Singapore. Both Wanchin's family and ours family enjoyed our sweet moments in Singapore together. This is our 1st time having holiday together. Not to forget, we snapped some pictures for our sweet memories.
The History of Merlion :
The Merlion was first designed as an emblem for the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in 1964 – the lion head with a fish body resting on a crest of waves quickly became Singapore’s icon to the rest of the world.
Originally located at the Merlion Park by the Esplanade Bridge, the Merlion and the Cub became a popular tourist attraction for visitors. The installation ceremony took place on 15 September 1972, officiated by the then Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
Today, the Merlion has found a new home just 120 metres away from its original location, adjacent to one Fullerton.
Measuring 8.6 metres high and weighing 70 tonnes, the Merlion statue was built from cement fondue by the late Singapore craftsman, Mr Lim Nang Seng. A second and smaller Merlion statue, measuring two metres high and weighing three tones, was also built by Mr Lim. The body was made of cement fondue, the skin from porcelain plates and eyes from small red teacups.
Designed by Mr Fraser Brunner, a curator of the Van Kleef Aquarium, the lion head represents the lion spotted by Prince Sang Nila Utama when he re-discovered Singapura in 11 AD, as recorded in the "Malay Annals". The fish tail of the Merlion symbolises the ancient city of Temasek (meaning “sea” in Javanese) by which Singapore was known before the Prince named it “Singapura” (meaning “lion” (singa) “city” (pura) in Sanskrit), and represents Singapore’s humble beginnings as a fishing village.

I got my friend WanChin to help me collect the prize. Since we were going to meet up in JB,so she passed the things to me.
On 5 Dec'08, we went to JB for holiday. We stayed at Agnes's house for 2 nites. We reached Senai Airport around 6pm,then took cab direct to Agnes's house. Reached there about 7 pm....pretty tired too after taking 1 1/2 hrs flight from Sibu.
Then Agnes's hubby tapao dinner for us. After chating n taking shower, we took our rest.Next morning, we took a cab to nearby Carrefour while Agnes was working. Around noon time, we went back home.....then SuYing reached Agnes's house around 2pm & Wanchin reached at 5pm.
We went for dinner together, it is my 1st time meet up with SuYing and WanChin. I have met Agnes twice. We like old frends...can talk alot of things. After dinner, we went to Jusco for jalan-jalan. Not to forget, we snapped some pictures as a memories too.
We went back to Agnes's house, took a shower n rest. While I was resting, I rec'd an sms from hubby that he went out for supper. OMG, ..... 3 daddies went out supper without asking mommies to tag along. Poor mommies have to accompany their babies at home while daddies were enjoying themselves.
Next morning, we have to wake up early as we were departing to S'pore.
Bye Bye JOHOR & thanks lot to my dear Agnes for tumpang us at her house !!!
On 20th Dec'08, we went to Hillpark Sibolangit with my sister's family. We reached Hillpark around 11plus...we stopby nearest rumah makan for our lunch(eat malay food .... yummy yummy). It is our 1st time been to Hillpark, a big playground with different kinds of games for kids and adults to play. The entrance fee is not tat expensive, but each time you want to play, have to pay for the individual fee (tats the expensive part). Ryan felt happy...walk here n there. Let Ryan sit the merry-go-round train & horse. After playing for about 3 hours, we headed back to Medan. From Medan - Hillpark, it took about 1 1/2hours drive ... the amusement park is not 100% completed yet. Will visit there again in my next holiday trip to Medan in Dec'09.
Last year we went back to Medan on 11 Dec'08. We went to Spore for holiday about a week, then back to Medan together with my sis n BIL. My sis came to pick us up @5am. That's very very early for Ryan to wake up...no choice our Valuair flight to Medan was 7.30am. That morning, I on the room light & woke up Ryan. Make some milk for him .. it is not good go airport with empty stomach as our trip back to Medan will take 1 hr 5 mins from Spore.
After check - in, we snapped some pictures before departing to Medan. We did not really walk around the Changi Airport, I believe there were wonderful X'mas deco at that point of time. We were in rush too. Ryan was busy pushing the trolley & refused to be hold, wanna walk by himself. He was getting excited for his holiday trip to Medan .... can't wait to meet my family members there.
My hubby's birthday was fall on 12th Dec ... last year, we did not invited my family for dinner.I just bought a cake for hubby. Simple celebration...no gift for hubby as well. We were back to Medan (my hometown) during tat time. That afternoon, I went to Clover Cake Shop to buy a cake (can't remember wat kind of cake I bought)..at night, we blow candle and not to forget snapped some pictures with my family members(only with my mum,my 2nd brother,2nd SIL & my little niece YiXin).
Yesterday was Sunday....off day for hubby. So after Ryan woke up & taken his breakfast+shower, we went to Courts jalan-jalan.On way back home, we dropped by a ShowHouse. We reached home around 1pm.Then we took our lunch, i cooked Bak kut teh soup, we ate with meesuah. Yesterday I cooked Sweet Potato porridge for Ryan. Around 2pm, Ryan took his nap while I was busy preparing vege for dinners. I just stir-fried brocoli with sausages for the dinner plus Bak Kut Teh soup. Ryan woke up at 5.30pm....then I saw hubby rushed to toilet...juz wondering what happened to him. OMG ..... he was vomitting, should be some gastric problem again. His face getting pale after vomitting for few times. I decided to bring hubby to a doct(24hrs emergency) while Ryan was taking care by MIL. Ryan has been sticked to me all the time, by the time he doesn't see me around, he will call 'ma ma ma' and getting fussy. No choice, MIL has to bring him go jalan-jalan again.
We reached home around 8plus, after hubby took his medicine, he rest in the bedroom.Ryan is a good boy, he did not kacau his daddy while he was having his rest. Ryan was playing n watching TV(one million star-season 3) till 10pm,of course, with my company.
