Long Life Noodle(meesuah) Soup

Again... about food!!!
I always have to plan at least one day in advance for Ryan's meal. Since he has tried all kind of porridge since he was 6 mths old,has been eating noodle at least once a week...let's cook for him 'long life noodle(Mee Suah) soup' for his lunch today.Normally I will cook meesuah for Ryan when I have xtra chicken soup the night before. So today is the first time I cook meesuah for him without chicken soup.

Added some green vegetables(grown by MIL at house's compound),egg and some spring onions.I did not cook the meesuah together with the soup, coz the meesuah is bit salty. So I boiled the meesuah separately. Taste good...with this simple dishes, it takes 20 mins for Ryan to finish up the whole bowl.

Now...I have to think again, what is tomorrow meal for Ryan?? Porridge ?? Beehoon??

Mee suah is our favourite too! The soup I didn't use chicken stock, normally I cook with dried oyster or dried scallop it turns out sweet too.. We're having fried rice for today, I'm thinking to cook Mee Suah for tomorrow... heheh =)

When I was still in the Philippines, I am not so much crazy about Meesuah, but now that I am in USA, I miss all the Filipino food, including Meesuah. :)

Ryan is so lucky that you always think hard to cook healthy food for him and with lots of variety too !!

MeRy said...

Mummy Moon - Agreed with you...fried beehoon is bit dry and susah to digest for kid. Sometimes I will cook beehoon soup for Ryan. But it seem he still prefer Meesuah Soup.

Hazel - Tq for the compliments.I am just trying my best to give nutrition food for my boy.

Grace - Juz wondering how do Philipino cook Meesuah? Also in soup based?

Adrine - I am just prefer to feed my boy with home cook dishes rather than eat outside.

I haven't tried this meal to my kids. Mee Suah is the white noodle which can absorb the soup easily? Am I right?

*happy* now I will have something to cook....tnx

Mee suah is really good for kids. How about sharing your meesuah recipe?

MeRy said...

Cath - You can tried hide the green vege into ur kid's meal like homemade nuggets, meatballs, etc.

Ummi - MeeSuah is usually sold in dried form, is made from rice flour and is very brittle in uncooked form as the strands are really thin. This dish is more or less an automatic dish for breakfast on the first day of Chinese New Year and also during Chs birthday.

Mumsgather - Sure I will share my recipe of this meesuah in my next post.
